What I wanted most for my birthday this year is some ME time.
Every year since I started working, I would take a day off on my birthday. This year was no different except that instead of planning a get-together with friends or spending time with family, I decided to spend time with myself. Since becoming a Mommy of Multiples over two years ago, some quiet time is desperately required. I’ve become so accustomed to always doing stuff around the house, related to the kids, or related to my job that I rarely sit around and do nothing. So that’s what I decided to do for my actual 9 to 5 birth-day. Nothing.
Mister and Missy are at daycare. Mr. Mama is at work. Nobody home but me! Time to chill on the couch, respond to birthday messages and phone calls, rest, relax and recharge. I even took a nice bubble bath just like our toddlers do every day. It was so relaxing, no wonder Mister and Missy don’t want to get out of the tub some nights!
If the weather was better outside, I would’ve met Mr. Mama for a lunch date. Instead, Mr. Mama surprised me by bringing lunch home! That really made my day. To complete my birthday celebration, Mr. Mama and I will be treating ourselves this weekend to a massage and spa day, similar to the one I wrote about here.
Last but not least, I will claim my birthday hugs and kisses from Mister and Missy when I pick them up from daycare and get back on toddler duty in the evening. All the while, expressing my quiet gratitude to God for another wonderful year of life and looking forward with optimism for the coming year.
